GRS was named at Supplier of the Year UK in the 2024 John Sisk & Son Ltd awards, held The Convention Centre Dublin, Ireland on Friday.
GRS has worked with Sisk on several major projects around the UK, but it was our involvement in the York Central city regeneration scheme that helped clinch the award. A special shout out to the whole GRS Trading Yorkshire & North East team for an outstanding result!
The work undertaken by Sisk in York involved building a new road bridge and footbridge over the East Coast Main Line, 2km of new road with cycle lanes and pedestrian areas, and a rail spur to the National Railway Museum.
GRS supplied more than 200,000 tonnes of aggregates for the project, sourced from local quarries. Limited site access, busy local roads and a 12ft bridge to contend with meant optimising truck utilisation, so the delivery fleet was also used to backhaul more than 90% of the waste coming off site to be washed and recycled - a #circulareconomy success story in itself!
